Entry #2

Newbie

Description:

Zaira Joy Kimura is a 13-year-old girl who grew up on a rice farm in her home country of Japan. Her mother worked in the city of Yokohama, Japan, and she grew up in the city. When the company her mother works for got a chance to move to the American city of Chicago to years ago, Zaira's mother and father decided to jump at the chance and the Kimura family packed up to go halfway around the world.

After moving, Zaira and her sisters, Amaya, Kaora, and Raeika, took inspiration from American styles and rural farm looks they find in the states. Zaira embraces her life on the farm with a beautiful red toile dress that will have a gathered skirt and a red sash. She will wear brown (pre-made) cowgirl boots on her feet and a toile bow in her hair. Her earrings will be silver and gold dangles.

I started with two reusable grocery bags in a light, airy cotton material. I cut out the bodice pieces and hemmed them. Then I cut and gathered a skirt piece. I attached that, along with a sash, and adjusted the dress to fit my doll.

Zaira loves the USA's farm-style look, but she also likes to have a more edgy style. She mixed both with a shorter dress, lacy "cowdoll" boots, and an asymmetrical sash.
