Entry #7

Meet Dell
  as
 “Little Red Riding Hood”
   Limited Edition Fairy Tale Collection

 Piper & I.

Little Red Riding Hood comes dressed in a white chemise with double puffed sleeves, deep blue corset with gold braid , and a full pleated skirt in pale blue, finished with red and white trim. She has a vivid red cape with a gold tassel on the hood, and wooden shoes with hand painted flower detailing in red. Little Red also comes with a basket of bread, apples and cheese for her grandmother, and a book of classic fairytales.

The Inspiration

We started with a drawing, at least partially inspired by Scott Gustafson’s illustrations from “Classic Fairy Tales” of Little Red Riding Hood merged with his version of Snow White.

In Progress…

From there, we made accessories of polymer clay,
wove a basket, designed the costume, and made patterns.

Kneading the polymer clay for Little Red’s wooden klompen, cheese, bread, and apples.

Cutting the fabric for the skirt & pleating the waist.

Hemming the skirt.

I used a pattern I had previously drafted for the bodice of the chemise.

Finished Product!

Little Red Riding Hood awoke one sunshiny morning…

“What shall I wear?”
“Oh dear, where have I put my red hood?”

Little Red couldn’t resist picking flowers to fill her basket for grandmother.

Taking just a tiny break to read her book before going to grandmother’s house couldn’t hurt, could it?

“I hope Grandmother hasn’t been waiting too long!”
